What’s Involved

The Better Business Cases™ Foundation & Practitioner will cover a range of topics, including:

  • Overview of the Five Case Model – Understand the components and stages of a business case.
  • Developing the Strategic Case – Analyse and distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate applications of the Five Case Model, ensuring comprehensive review.
  • Developing the Economic Case – Tailor and apply relevant aspects of the Economic Case to scenarios, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project goals.
  • Developing the Commercial Case – Identify appropriate actions and responsibilities for preparing and contracting deals within the business case development framework to develop the Commercial Case.
  • Developing the Financial Case – Determine the contents of the Financial Case, including affordability and funding requirements, to ensure comprehensive financial planning.
  • Developing the Management Case – Plan for successful delivery and inclusion of pertinent information in the Management Case to facilitate effective project management.

To gain the full Better Business Cases Foundation qualification you must complete one examination.

The assessment consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, to be answered in a time frame of 40 minutes.

To gain the full Better Business Cases Practitioner qualification you must complete one examination.

The exam is open book, consisting of 4 questions, to be answered in 2.5 hours.

Both exams are to be completed online and the pass mark is 50%.

The BBC Foundation and Practitioner can be studied in two different ways: Virtual Classes and Face to Face Classes.

Virtual Classes run over 5 days, live online from 9am – 4.30pm. These classes enable you to engage with our expert trainers and fellow classmates in real-time.

Face to Face Classes run over 5 days from 9am – 4.30pm. These in-person, interactive classes, take place across our wide range of UK study venues.

There are no formal entry requirements for undertaking the Better Business Cases™ Foundation.  However, the qualification is aimed at anyone involved with business case development, such as Senior Responsible Owners (SROs), Programme Directors and Project Team Members.

In order to study the Better Business Cases™ Practitioner, you must have first completed and passed the BBC Foundation.
