We offer a comprehensive choice of CMI qualifications, designed for all management levels; from aspiring junior managers, to senior management and CEOs.
Level 3 CMI qualifications are designed for junior managers with approximately six months’ experience in a supervisory role. However, there are no formal entry requirements at this level.
Level 5 CMI courses are designed for middle managers, with approximately two years’ management experience.
CMI Level 7 qualifications are post-graduate level courses, designed for senior managers and CEOs with at least two years of senior management experience.
Chartered Management Institute (CMI) qualifications are based on credits, which reflects required study time. One credit equals around 10 hours of learning time.
An Award typically requires approximately 5 credits of study time (around 50-100 hours) and is designed for junior managers. It will typically take you around four weeks to complete a CMI Award.

The word count depends on the unit you are studying and your level of qualification. Generally, Award level courses involve writing approximately 2000-2500 words per unit. This increases to approximately 2500-3000 words per unit for CMI Certificate courses. Whereas with a CMI Diploma, you will be expected to write anything between 3000-4000 words per unit.
For CMI Level 3, you will need to be at least 16 years-old when you begin your course. This rises to a minimum of 18-years-old for CMI Level 5 and CMI Level 7 courses.
There are three main ways to study your CMI course with Oxford College of Management.
Face to Face – are our in-person classes, held at our many study centres across the UK. Depending on your course, you can select from our evening or weekend classes.
Virtual Classes – are our live online sessions. Depending on your course, you can select from one or two-day, afternoon or evening classes.
Distance Learning – is our most flexible option, conducted purely online and self-paced, so you can learn at a time and place to suit you.
We also offer Corporate Courses, where we can tailor our training at a location of your choice. Not only does this maximise your staff productivity by eliminating the need to travel, we also align training content to reflect your specific business or industry.
There are two ways you can be assessed.
Most CMI courses comprise of written assessments, in response to completing the required units for your specific level of qualification, and these are assessed by your tutor.
Oxford College of Management is also an approved centre for offering assessment by professional discussion, as an alternative to the written assessment. This can be pre-arranged with the college and involves a verbal discussion of your work, where your knowledge, skills and understanding of the course, are discussed in an extended meeting with your personal tutor.
In both cases, your work will be marked by your personal assignment tutor, as a ‘pass’ or a ‘refer’.
If you receive a ‘refer’, this means the standard of work has fallen short of a ‘pass’. But you can revise your work and resubmit it for a written re-assessment, or verbal discussion, at no extra cost.
You will have full access to CMI’s complete online library, Thrive, which provides current educational material to support your study journey. These include: videos, articles, e-books, management profiles and definitions. There are also additional study resources, which include factsheets on assignment writing, references, citations and learning styles.
