What’s Involved

The CMI Level 5 Workforce Planning Award involves completing Unit 512 of the CMI Level 5 Management and Leadership syllabus. This unit has a Total Unit Time (TUT) of 40 hours, gives you 4 credits, and typically takes around 2–4 weeks to complete when studied alongside full-time work.

This unit focuses on the rationale for workforce planning, including: strategy, objectives, skills, crisis and contingency. It also looks at the principles and practices of workforce planning, including: theoretical models, examining data and the impact of organisational objectives on flexible employment practices.

To gain this CMI Level 5 Award, you will need to complete written assignments, accounts, scenarios and case studies, based on your work-based evidence, or reflective practice/own experience. The guideline word count for this unit is 2500-3000 words, with a 10% allowance above or below the guideline.

At the end of the course, you will be awarded a Pass or a Refer.
