The PRINCE2® Programme Management Foundation is the first level of certification in the PRINCE2 Programme Management best-practice framework. The Foundation level is designed for current and aspiring programme managers, as well as other key staff involved in the delivery of complex projects.

The PRINCE2® Programme Management Foundation covers the essential principles of the Programme Management framework, including programme governance, risk management, benefits realisation, and stakeholder engagement. You will learn how to apply the Programme Management framework in real-world situations and how to organise large programmes into manageable projects. Upon completion of the Foundation, you will be eligible to progress to the PRINCE2® Programme Management Practitioner level.

The PRINCE2® Programme Management Foundation provides a basic understanding of the Programme Management framework for programme management:

  • MSP key concepts: This includes definitions of programmes, the three lenses of MSP, and enterprise agility. Learn how to describe the characteristics of a programme, common challenges within programmes, and the programme environment.
  • MSP principles: Explore how seven key principles underpin the MSP framework. Learn how each principle contributes to programme success, delivering benefits and meeting strategic objectives.
  • MSP themes: Understand how seven key themes can be applied throughout the programme.  This involves explaining the purpose of each theme, key concepts, key benefits, and potential risks involved.
  • MSP processes: Explore seven key processes and how they are carried out throughout the programme. Gain an understanding of the purpose, objective and context of each process.

To gain the full PRINCE2® Programme Management Foundation qualification you must complete one examination.

The exam is assessed online by 60 multiple choice questions, closed book exam, with a duration of 60 minutes. The pass mark is 60%.

Complete the full PRINCE2 certification pathway and you could achieve PRINCE2 Master.

The PRINCE2® Programme Management Foundation can be studied in three different ways: Distance Learning, Virtual Classes, and Face to Face Classes.

Virtual Classes are conducted live online. These classes enable you to engage with our expert trainers and fellow classmates in real-time.

There are no formal entry requirements for the PRINCE2® Programme Management Foundation qualification. However, it is best suited to programme managers, or those who regularly work within project and programme environments.
